CBX in Top 10 Most Visited Airports in Mexico

CBX stands in 8th place for Top 10 most visited airports in Mexico, with the fastest growth pace between every other airport in its category. Alongside the Tijuana International Airport, this binational bridge seeks to offer every passenger a safe experience with lower traveling rates up to 30% and shorter waiting crossing times.

Thanks to the pandemic, airport traffic in Mexico and the whole world had a big fall of almost 60%. Mobility restrictions and health measures stated because of COVID-19 caused passenger traffic and flight options to decrease, also having the U.S.-Mexico border to close down. As expected, traffic in our CBX terminal changed and slowed down.

With the re-opening of the American border in November 2021, foreigner transit crossing by land went up, meaning there was a significant recovery compared to airport traffic numbers in Mexico from the year 2019.

CBX stands in 8th place from Top 10 Most Frequented Airports in Mexico, with the fastest growth pace between every other airport in its category. The CBX terminal is located inside the Tijuana airport, which stands in 4th place; it is used as a binational bridge, making the border crossing a much easier experience.

The Abelardo L. Rodriguez International Airport has access to 39 destinations in Mexico and several international ones, with a traffic of almost 10 million passengers each year. It is also considered the air base with the most connectivity for national flights in the country, topping even the air base from Mexico City. “CBX has also allowed the Tijuana airport to have the best recovery in all air bases across Mexico”, alluded CrossBorderXpress CEO, Jorge Goytortúa.

This 2022, Cross Border Xpress celebrates their 17 million passenger milestone. Alongside the Tijuana International Airport, this binational bridge seeks to offer every passenger a safe experience with lower traveling rates up to 30% and shorter waiting crossing times.
