What is the Unaccompanied Teen service?

A CBX service designed for minors ages 13-17, seeking to cross through CBX to fly out of the Tijuana International Airport unaccompanied by a parent or guardian. Minors must comply with the travel policies set by their corresponding airline. The Unaccompanied Teen Service is not currently available for children under the age of 13 years of age and, in the southbound direction (from the CBX Terminal to the Tijuana Airport), is only available for unaccompanied minors flying Volaris.

  • Assistance with the airline documentation process.
  • Support with immigration process and forms.
  • Minor escorted to his or her flight’s boarding gate or to his or her parent or guardian at the CBX terminal in San Diego.

Requirements

Crossing from San Diego to the Tijuana International Airport

1. If the minor is any nationality other than Mexican, the parents or legal guardians must provide a notarized letter granting permission for the minor to travel unaccompanied.

2. Complete the UNMR CBX form and bring a printed copy on the day of travel.

3. Valid passport for non-Mexicans or a valid official Mexican identification. For more information, click here.

5. Complete the FMM form to enter Mexico (only applies to non-Mexicans).

6. The minor is not allowed to carry any item that must be declared under the guidelines set by Mexican Customs authorities. For more information, click here.

7. Payment of the unaccompanied minor service.


Crossing from the Tijuana International Airport to San Diego

1. The parents or legal guardians must provide a notarized letter granting the minor permission to travel unaccompanied.

2. Complete the UNMR CBX form and bring a printed copy on the day of travel.

3. Valid passport and visa for non-Americans or any other official document that proves U.S. citizenship or residency as required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. Click here for more information.

5. Payment of the unaccompanied minor service.


Complete the applicable forms
Print and present the documents to the CBX Ambassador

UNMR CBX assisted minor identification form required by CBX; applies to all minors.

SAM authorization format for leaving Mexico, for girls, boys, adolescents, or persons under legal guardianship. Required by Mexican immigration authorities; applies only to Mexicans.

FMM (Forma Migratoria Múltiple) required by Mexican immigration authorities for foreigners entering Mexico.

I-94 permit required by United States Customs and Border Protection authorities for foreigners to the U.S. traveling with a tourist visa more than 25 miles from the border or staying longer than 30 days. For more information, click here.

Price includes CBX ticket; this service is not transferable to another minor.
If the passenger already has a CBX ticket and requires this service on-site a rate adjustment applies, and it must be covered by the passenger when the service is requested at the CBX Tijuana or CBX San Diego counters.
Remember all applicable corresponding forms are mandatory to request the Unaccompanied Teen service.

Terms and Conditions

2. The provision of the services by CBX is subject to compliance by users with all requirements and necessary documentation in accordance with applicable law and regulations. CBX reserves the right to deny the provision of the services to such users that do not comply with all requirements and necessary documentation, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the service and applicable law and regulations.

3. The costs for the services may be consulted at www.crossborderxpress.com and may be modified from time to time by CBX, at its sole discretion.

4. The Responsible Adult, who purchased the Unaccompanied Teen Service must bring the unaccompanied minor to the CBX counter at the CBX Terminal between 1 ½ and 2 ½ hours before the departure time and remain in the CBX Terminal until the CBX Ambassador notifies them that they may leave the CBX Terminal.
