Restrictions on travel deemed non-essential previously imposed by U.S. and Mexican federal authorities have been lifted for individuals who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

What do I need to cross into the United States?

DOCUMENTATION

  • You must have all the necessary documents to enter the United States, such as a valid passport and visa.
  • All passengers, with the exception of U.S. citizens and residents, traveling more than 25 miles (approx. 40 km) from the border or staying more than 30 days in the United States will be required to prepay and complete their provisional I-94 permit before crossing through CBX. You can complete the application and prepay here.

VACCINATION

  • All non-US travelers need to verbally attest to their vaccination status, vaccination records may be requested by the U.S. immigration authorities.
  • COVID-19 vaccines approved by the United States government: Janssen(J&J), Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AztraZeneca, Covishield, BIBP/Sinopharm, Sinovac.
  • Travelers ages 17 and under are exempt from the vaccination requirement but should be accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult.

No COVID-19 Test Required at CBX

  • Currently, U.S. immigration authorities are not requiring a negative COVID-19 test be presented to cross through CBX.

CBX is a border crossing that operates in accordance with federal policies and procedures of both the United States and Mexico.

Our janitorial staff uses electrostatic disinfection sprayers and high-grade disinfectant cleaner throughout the terminal with an emphasis on high touch areas to protect travelers at CBX. Additionally, hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the CBX terminal, as well as in the Tijuana International Airport.

To enter the United States through CBX as a tourist with a B1/B2 visa you must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and present all the necessary documents to cross such as your valid passport and visa. Additionally, if you will travel more than 25 miles from the border or stay longer than 30 days an I-94 permit is required, you can prepay here. US Customs and Border Protection officials have full discretion as to who is admitted entry.
