Looking to make a positive impact in our community, CBX hosted its 5th annual toy drive, One Toy One Smile. Led by Hand in Hand CBX, the goal was to bring health and happiness to children in need, particularly those in hospitals within the Tijuana-San Diego region.
The campaign invited every CBX user to give a $20 or higher retail value toy in exchange for one Southbound CBX High Season ticket or donate through your ticket purchase. After a month-long campaign, nearly 200 toys were delivered to children at the CRIT rehabilitation center in Tijuana during a Children's Day event, where they had games, activities and everybody was dressed down as their favorite animated character. In monetary donations, approximately $7,000 USD and $20,000 MXN were raised to support various surgeries and services, including day surgeries, dentistry, ophthalmology, orthopedics, physiotherapy, and more, benefiting children at the Hospital de las Californias.
Since its opening in 2015, CBX has aimed to be a socially active company, always aware of the positive impact it can have on vulnerable communities in the surrounding region. We seek, year by year, opportunities to collaborate with non-profit organizations that support children and families in need, such as The Foundation for the Children of the Californias, CRIT Baja California, and the Hospital de las Californias in Tijuana. “This initiative, which we have carried out for 5 consecutive years, gives our users the opportunity to make their journey altruistic, going beyond the experience of just using the CBX bridge," says Jorge Goytortua, CEO of CrossBorderXpress.
