MEXICO PAYS TRIBUTE TO ARCHITECT RICARDO LEGORRETA
**From July all through August**. CBX users will walk down a display of the architect’s most emblematic pieces.

CBX’s main walls will come to life with color and epic forms, with an exhibition of Ricardo Legorreta’s most distinctive pieces. The internationally recognized Mexican architect and ‘’father’’ of the Cross Border Xpress.

From July all through September, CBX users will be welcomed with a colorful journey through the acclaimed Mexican artist’s most representative pieces. 98 photographs that portray and celebrate his long-lasting legacy of more than 50 years, with constructions that go from hotels, museums, campuses and urban spaces, as well as private residencies in Mexico and the rest of the world. Some of his most recognized pieces are Papalote Museo del Niño in Mexico (Mexico’s Children's Museum), the Fashion and Textile Museum in London, Torre El Pedregal in El Salvador, and of course, the CBX terminal in Otay Mesa.

"Promoting Mexican architecture and the arts is one of our firm's core philosophies. CBX bridges two countries and symbolizes how we can live together. The architecture of this new gate is happy, friendly, and full of light and color, representing the friendship between the two countries. It is memorable to have an exhibit at CBX commemorating our founder", said his son and architect Victor Legorreta, Partner, Managing and Design Director at LEGORRETA.

Legorreta’s work excels thanks to his amazing way of representing Mexican culture with vibrant colors, geometrical shapes, fountains, open-light spaces and intimate yards; making these his signature. He was not just an architect but an artist and designer, who was very aware of the environment, and always thought about providing a pleasant and functional experience to the people using his constructions.

Architect Legorreta was born in Mexico City in the year 1931 and studied in UNAM’s National School of Architecture, where he graduated in 1952. He earned a series of acknowledgments throughout his career, like the Science and Arts National Award given by the Mexican government and several gold medals in different international institutions. He also received the Order of Isabelle the Catholic, granted by the government of Spain, and the Imperial Award in Japan.

Summer was strategically chosen to showcase this amazing display, because CBX’ s traffic will increase up to 20% during these months compared to regular seasons.

"CBX is the only terminal of its kind, a gateway between two countries and a symbol of collaboration between Mexico and the United States. We commemorate Legorreta's legacy (in the terminal) surrounded by the geometry, colors, and harmony in the interior and exterior spaces. We wish our passengers can join this celebration of Mexican culture transcending borders," added Mrs. Laura Díez Barroso, CBX Member of the Board of Shareholders and President of the Board of Directors of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico.
